Nurturing this passion across two expansive properties, totaling over 1000 acres, Kevin and Lee-anne bring a wealth of experience from diverse backgrounds. Fleurieu Wagyu prides itself on a meticulous approach to herd genetics. The pursuit of superior traits begins with cutting-edge embryo transfer programs. Top-tier donor full-blood Wagyu females are carefully paired with the best-performing and reliable Sires through artificial insemination with selection based off data directly linked to BREEDPLAN. This meticulous process ensures the introduction of only the finest genetics to our herd.
The Art of Embryo Transfer
At the heart of our breeding program lies a sophisticated technique. The embryos produced from these carefully curated pairings find their new home in recipient cows. Fleurieu Wagyu exclusively employs pure Black Angus females as recipients in its embryo transfer (ET) programs. This strategic choice results in a remarkable lineage, producing both full-blood Wagyu and Wagyu x Angus (F1) cattle, known for their exceptional quality and highly marbled beef.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
In the quest for excellence, Fleurieu Wagyu remains steadfast in research and learning from Wagyu breed experts. Beyond refining our breeding methods, we have a deep-seated passion for producing bulls and heifers. Our aim is to supply both stud and commercial breeders with animals boasting top Australian Wagyu Association Estimated Breeding Values (AWA EBVs). Our breeding efforts consistently yield EBVs within the top 1-20% across a diverse range of key traits. Key trait data is collected on all registered fullblood Wagyu and delivered to BREEDPLAN on a regular basis.
